It's been a quiet couple of weeks on the blog front; circumstances and a social life are great at making me put stuff on hold. Last week I went to the gym once. This is rare for me; it was a combination of getting a tummy boo at the start of the week and then having made plans to have a bit of a weekend off at the end of the week. I was very keen to be rid of any germs before the weekend, so I had to rest (and it worked, hurrah). So one gym session. Two in ten days in total. Feels weird, man.
What have I been doing? Eating mostly, all kinds of wonderful things - a lot of them completely outside my usual repertoire; which is always an exciting prospect for me. Highlights include:
- The most gorgeous Italian courtesy of M&S
- My version of the Nigel Slater chocolate brownies (except this time I put Galaxy Counters in them, OMGGGggggg)
- An enormous (and gorgeous) bowl of chilli beef ramen at a Japanese restaurant (and they even kindly switched the noodles to rice noodles for me)
- A Sunday Roast - things I only eat approximately once a year - this was the exception to the rule and it was totally worth it (the Yorkshire pudding was actually better than any I've had - sorry mum!)
Needless to say after a rest and a tummy full of food like that I've had to get back on the wagon pronto tonto. I bought myself office foods at the start of this week (as I was too tired and/or lazy to cook) and I bought these:
Yes, I know I really am lazy if I can't be bothered to make my own porridge, take your attention away from that and onto the tub underneath the oats. This was a Baxters Sweet Potato & Dahl Lentil-style soup. It was nice but as always when I buy things like this I read the ingredients, want to tweak them a bit and wonder if I could do better myself.
I did - behold my Veggie Chilli Bean Pot!
I will be putting the recipe online in the next few days, so check back for a link if you're interested in the recipe.
I've also been super-charging my porridge with an additional splodge of conserve in there there with my berries - I saw this on the shelf at Tescos and couldn't resist:
It's lovely jam, I could eat it straight from the jar on a spoon but I won't, or at the very least I will try not to.
Speaking of porridge, did I show off my pudding porridge?
My local Waitrose ran out of Kara, so I had to have an alternative. Yes, I could have bought regular Oatly but come on! Chocolate! Oats with chocolate oat milk, berries and Linwoods. It was heavenly, and as I bought a big carton I had to have this breakfast for days (oh, what a shame!).
The end of the month will be rolling around next week, so round-up time is looming. Stay tuned for that next week. I need to put myself on the weighing scales too. Eeek.
